Q: How does the ML830® Laser work?
A: Virtually all light has some penetration properties; however, it is often absorbed by the outermost skin layers. Traditional thermal (hot) laser light, on the other hand, can penetrate but often destroys tissue. As it is well known that damaged cells benefit from light, the objective was to develop a non-thermal and non-destructive deep tissue, delivery vehicle. The ML830
®  Laser is a non-thermal laser capable of penetrating deep into tissue. Once delivered, the light energy promotes the process of photobiostimulation. In human tissue the resulting photochemical reaction produces an increase in the cellular metabolism rate which expedites cell repair and the stimulation of the immune, lymphatic and vascular systems. The net result, observed in clinical trials to date, is the apparent reduction in pain, inflammation, edema and an overall reduction in healing time.

Q: How deep into the tissue can the ML830® Laser penetrate?
A: The depth of penetration of laser light depends on the light's wavelength and power output. The ML830
® is a GaAlA Laser that has wavelength of 830 nm with a power output of 90 mw. At this wavelength and power the ML830® Laser has a penetration of approximately 5 cm with a 3 cm lateral spread. If you are working in direct contact with the skin and press the probe against the skin, the greatest active depth will be achieved.

Q: Are there any counter indications?
A: The ML830
® Laser is a symptomatic treatment and its use is contraindicated where analgesia may mask progressive pathology, and should not be used where the practitioner would normally avoid the use of any other analgesia in order to retain beneficial aspects of pain.

Q: Do I need any special training to operate and maintain the laser if I plan to use the ML830
® Laser in an office-based environment?
A: No. You and your office staff of nurses and clinicians can operate The ML830
® Laser. This is provided during regional training seminars. We recommended the training course be taken.

Q: Can I get reimbursement?
A: Yes. At present, the ML830
® Laser does not have its own billing code, because, as is the case for other new technologies, the issuance of a new billing code can take years. (Note: The ML830® Laser received FDA permission to market in 2002). While we work on obtaining a code for the ML830® Laser, in the interim we suggest that physicians employ a "best fit" approach when employing this new technology. Go to "Billing Codes" page for more information.

Q: How can I purchase the ML830
® Laser?
A: The ML830
® Laser is sold through regional authorized distributors in the United States.  Please contact our sales personal at sales@laserhealing.com, call us at 800-235-3540, or purchase with a major credit card on our VeriSign® secured server by clicking hereCheck back or sign up for email about our periodically scheduled regional seminars. We will visit your facility to train your staff and happy to answer any questions you may have.

Q: What research is being conducted for other indications?
A: Research has been ongoing for years. Please come back periodically to check for new studies.

Q: How much does the ML830® Laser System cost?
A: $9,995.00.  Please consider that with lease payments as low as $230 per month this is a cost effective addition to any practice.  The number of people suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome is so great that any therapy short of surgery is attractive.  Lease or purchase payments can be made through any major credit card.  Contact HPSC for further lease information.  The actual increase in client base more than covers the cost. ® Laser System, please click here.

Q: Is the ML830® Laser available for sale outside of the U.S.?
A: Yes, for international inquires, please contact our international sales department at sales@laserhealing.com
